Ek Ajeeb mulakaat
Ek Ajeeb mulakaat (Short Fictional Story)
It was in 2005, and I used to work in Gurugram and used to come to Allahabad every weekend. Going home on the weekend, there was a problem with where to smoke cigarettes. The job was new, and I don’t know how I had developed the habit of smoking. Going to smoke cigarettes on every break because the company of friends was a bad habit. It was not easy to smoke cigarettes in Allahabad.
Because everyone knows Papa, and it was not easy to hide from the family members. There was a graveyard far from the house where no one usually goes. By the way, I was also terrified in my childhood, so I did not even go near the place, but now I felt that this was the safest place where no one would know.
I also reached the graveyard with my cigarette. It was evening time, and the cemetery was very deserted. I took a cigarette from my pocket and lit it when a man appeared in the distance. I got a little scared about who had come.
At first, seeing that man at the graveyard felt strange, but then I thought to ask him so that the fear would go away from my mind. Then suppressing all the fear inside me, I showed some courage and approached that man. Even going to me didn’t make any difference to that man. I was also starting to feel a little scared. With great courage, I asked if there was any problem. He turned and looked at me and then said no. I said what are you doing here. He looked at me as if he said he could ask you these questions too.
I pointed to the cigarette and explained why I had come here. Then he told me that you should not have been here. Now I was a little scared.
I was shocked to hear what that person said next. He started saying that he had died a while ago. My cigarette fell out of my mouth and fell. He continued his talk by saying he had committed suicide by drowning in the river near Gaughat a while back. I was sweating because of fear, yet I asked what was the reason for the suicide. He said that my name did not appear on the engineering admission list.
I asked what was the reason for the suicide. Then he became a bit emotional and, looking at me, said it would be difficult for you to understand. I worked hard, but it didn’t happen.
I mustered some courage and told him, you should not have done this. Didn’t think about your family even once. You know one truth that is just doing engineering is not everything. You can be successful by studying anything.
I have seen many good coders and successful people without degrees. I have also seen many sound college engineers teaching coaching. There is no need for a degree or a good job to be happy in life. I had seen that time, so I was saying that suddenly no one was there. My condition worsened, and I started to run home quickly. I couldn’t sleep the whole night when the newspaper came in the morning, I promptly began searching for the newspaper, and a piece of news was seen in the inside paper, a young boy tried to drown in Gaughat but was saved.
